Tennessee Songwriters Week 2026

Tennessee Songwriters Week is returning—and this year, the stage is coming right to the heart of the Smokies at Hurshel’s Outfitters.

On January 31, 2026 at 1pm est, we’re proud to host an official Tennessee Songwriters Week Qualifying Round, inviting storytellers, musicians, and dreamers to share their original songs in the spirit of Tennessee’s rich musical heritage.

Set against the backdrop of the mountains Hurshel loved, this qualifying round is your chance to step into a statewide celebration of creativity. Whether you’re an emerging songwriter or a seasoned performer, this is your moment to shine.

Songwriter sign-ups open December 11, 2025, and spots fill up quickly—so don’t wait to secure your place on stage.

What to Expect

Participants will perform one original song (up to five minutes) they wrote or co-wrote. Performances will be judged based on song quality, originality, clarity of narrative, and connection with the audience, following Tennessee Songwriters Week guidelines. Winners from qualifying rounds across the state will advance to official showcase events the last full week of February, ultimately leading up to the finale at the legendary Bluebird Café in March 2026.

This is more than a competition—it’s a chance to be part of a statewide movement that honors the craft of songwriting, supports local venues, and celebrates the music that shaped Tennessee.

Join us at Hurshel’s Outfitters on January 31st and let the mountains hear your story.
